Join Sustainable NE Seattle for a fascinating and inspiring look at practical energy alternatives that could reduce climate change and environmental degradation while improving the local economy. The program will include the following presentations:
Leo Brodie will briefly review the physics of energy from an ecological perspective and what makes an energy technology truly "sustainable."
Jessica Raker will describe her work with community energy projects at Northwest SEED (Sustainable Energy for Economic Development).
Art Donelly with Seachar will describe how biochar, which holds promise as a truly sustainable, carbon-negative solution energy source. Art is also planning to demonstrate a small biochar stove in the parking lot starting at 6:30 pm.
Boyd Pro is Project Manager for Convivium Renewable Energy, and Energy Analyst for Cascade Community Wind Company. He will speak about opportunities for community-owned wind power.
The outdoor biochar presentation begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, November 19, 2009. The main presentation will begin at 7pm. (Admission is free; donations are encouraged.
