The Urban Farmer's group met last weekend and decided to host a series of 'Garden Opens" where we would look at a member's garden and discuss how to grow our network of urban farmers in NE Seattle. Our next meeting will be at David Johnson's garden on Saturday October 4th from 10 AM until noon. This is an established garden with espaliered fruit trees, drought tolerant plantings, a greenhouse, and an annual food garden that is transitioning from summer to winter production.
Discussion will include organizing a 'sodbuster' event, looking at how we can establish a closer relationship with the Nathan Hale horticulture program, discussion of garden design and maintenance issues, winter gardening, soil building, and other topics that you might want to bring up.
All members are welcome.
