HI Everyone - I'm hoping you are as excited as I am about meeting next Wednesday for our first meeting. I just watched the interview with Francis Ayley that John posted, and also read the Joanne Poyourow blog article cited above. Please try to take a look at one or both before the meeting, and we'll be able to jump in more quickly after we take a little time to get to know each other.

In addition to reading (Transition LA) Joanne's nine postings from her pamphlet "Economic Resilience" (including the eight prior to the link above)...

Please also check out http://www.fourthcornerexchange.com/ before the meeting and especially Janaia's interview with Francis Ayley:

"Local Currencies: Replacing Scarcity with Trust" http://www.youtube.com/user/peakmoment#p/search/1/Aflp7jC1Yuw

As Joanne says:

"We have grown up accustomed to a monoculture of the national currency (U.S. dollars, British pounds, etc.) but -- just like in agriculture, just like in human culture -- for a resilient future we'll be much better off with a polyculture."

We have an incredible opportunity to quickly begin a new local currency here - but well established nearby us in Fourth Corner Exchange - that can be the first of many in our region -  for a resilient polyculture..

Cheers,

John

Elizabeth, that is fine. I think we'll just be finding out a bit more about each other's interests, so come when you can.

I likely cannot make it until about 7:30, but would be very interested to learn more. Would that be too late to come by? I don't want to interrupt...
