Event Description

The Meadowbrook Community Gardens and Orchards group is having a work party to begin cleaning up and caring for the Edible (Permaculture) Hedge.

We have decided for this upcoming work party to just focus on mulching and removing as much Himalayan blackberry as possible that’s overgrown the original plants.

We have located and identified most of the original plants. But there are several plants listed on the map that we could not find and they may be buried under the blackberries. So we will have to be careful to not cut them down if they’ve survived..

So bring heavy duty gloves to handle blackberry canes, a hand pruner, lopper, shovel and spading fork if you have them. We will try to have extra tools, wheelbarrows and tarps available.

See you there!
...and bring the kids!

Thanks for the reminder Joann, we discussed this at our last meeting along with what we want to tackle for the first work party..

Should we bring tools and if so, what would be most useful?
