A sustainable living festival hosted by Sustainable Northeast Seattle
August 21st, 10am-5pm at the Hunter Tree Farm – 7744 35th Ave NE, Seattle

Free workshops, speakers, food, live music, demonstrations, hands-on science and art activities for kids! Come learn how you can reduce your environmental footprint and share your experiences in trying to live more sustainably! Learn about solar cooking, bicycle repair (bring your bike!), cheese-making, weatherizing you home, growing your own tea (bring a cup!), sod replacement, worm bins, bee-keeping, tool repair (bring your tools!), edible landscaping, knowledge-sharing with community elders, rain gardens, and much much more. Take home ideas for environmentally-friendly living and maybe win some eco products to help you on your way.

Rob Stevens of Puget Sound Beekeepers Association - beekeeping basics
Emily Bishton of Green Light Gardening - gardening for wildlife

Julianne Jaz - dye gardens
James Reichstadt - cheese making demonstration

It's from a travel article about Athens (url below) posted to Rick Steves' FB page: “Yes but it is still just an Athenian neighborhood at heart. There are families and old people living here too. Not just young people and anarchists. It is a real community. You see this park on the left. The city wanted to make a parking lot. The people seized it and made this park. The brought in the trees. They made the paths. And they made the little area where they can hang out and drink coffee so there is always someone here to sound the alarm in case the city tries to take it back. Comment by Lynn on August 20, 2010 at 1:34pm: Lynn Brevig requests a person to relieve me at the Art table at Planet Home at 1:00 p.m. I would like to take over "manning" the WA. Toxics Coalition table when the rep from WTC has to leave.
An Art table person would just need to be helpful o the people who might be making imaginative things with a variety of re-used materials.
You don't have to be an Artist. Just assist the Creative process of others.

I will have all the info typed up in FAQ format for you and signs or explanatory paragraphs for everything. It's mostly just being there to chat with people about sustainability.

I need to ask for someone to help with the Office part on that day, so if there's someone out there who would like to help, please let me know.
