Join us – everyone welcome – as we attempt to assemble the most solar cookers ever at a single cookout and have fun while we do it. Bring your cookers and the contents for your recipe to the Ravenna Eckstein Comm Center field anytime after noon, (cooker sitters will be available) then we will potluck after 5:30 on whatever is cooked during the day. Bring the family, friends and your picnic supplies. Music will be included to add to the fun. If you don't have a cooker yet, there is still time to build one at RavennaEckstein or Meadowbrook CommCntr.

Comment by Juleswf on June 15, 2011 at 2:33pm My name is Julie Wilcox, and I'm involved with Shoreline Solar Project, who puts on the annual NW SolarFest (I live in NE Seattle though).
We were having a SolarFest meeting yesterday, and discussed putting on fun get together event for new members of our organization about a week or so after SolarFest, to keep the good "solar mood" in people's minds. This year, NW SolarFest is excited to have Graham Kerr, formerly known as the Galloping Gourmet, doing cooking demos all day with a solar cooker! We are thinking of giving a prize of a Sun Oven solar oven in a drawing amongst those who join Shoreline Solar Project at the fair.
Anyway, since we are focused on solar cooking this year, and a few of us are starting to be active in this forum, the solar cooking event caught my eye. Would you be interested in combining forces? NW SolarFest would promote your solar cooking event at Rav-Eck on July 27th as a place for our new and existing members to gather and try out their ovens, or see solar cooking in work. NW SolarFest is on July 16th this year, so the timing would be perfect to have a follow up at the time of your event. Linda Stein is heading up the solar cooking at the fair this year.
If you need more info on NW SolarFest and Shoreline Solar Project, here is a link to the website:

understand if this isn't in the scope or plans of sustainable NESeattle, or your event. But we figured it couldn't hurt to ask!
Thanks much -
Julie
