Event Description

The Caretakers: Short Films on the Canadian Resistance to Large Pipeline Projects.  "The Caretakers" (2017, 40 min.) is a documentary by David Goldberg that tells the story of how First Nations people in British Columbia led a direct action to stop the Texas-based Kinder Morgan company from drilling for samples in preparation for a mega pipeline project across Canada. The film takes an inside look at indigenous leadership and their allies confronting the fossil fuel industry, as well as the role of law enforcement. Included in this evening’s focus on  pipeline projects will be other short films on indigenous-led resistance to Canadian pipelines and the role of all people in their future.  We will have speakers to facilitate the community discussion following the films.

Please join us for the films' showing. It's FREE and open to the public. Donations to defray cost of screening rights gladly accepted. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Parking is available on NE 89th and NE 90th streets. The film begins at 7 p.m. with a facilitated community discussion to follow.
