Event Description

Do you want affordable, livable, walkable neighborhoods with great transit connections? Come show your support for our Transit Oriented Communities bill (HB 1490/ SB 5687) at a workshop organized by Seattle Councilmember Sally Clark. Opponents of the bill are spreading misinformation about the bill and will be out in force to oppose this bill. We need you there to show your support.

Transit Oriented Communities will empower cities and neighborhoods to increase livability, provide more transit options, give families opportunities to save money while protecting the environment.

Councilmember Clark will moderate a panel with proponents of the legislation, critics, and representatives of Seattle's Urban Land Institute to explain basic planning and density principles. Transportation Choices, Futurewise, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and Housing Development Consortium have been working together on this proposed legislation. Transit Oriented Communities is one of the four environmental priorities chosen by 24 environmental groups statewide.

Want more information about Transit Oriented Communities? We have a fact sheet (pdf) and FAQs(pdf).
