My name is Alexa and I just moved to Seattle to launch a campaign to stop the overuse of antibiotics on factory farms!
As many of you may know, antibiotic resistant bacteria threaten everyone’s health. Currently, 80% of the antibiotics in the US are used on factory farms, mostly to compensate for filthy and overcrowded conditions for animals. This creates the perfect breeding ground for antibiotic resistant infections, which make 2 million Americans sick every year. If we keep misusing antibiotics on factory farms, they might not work the next time you or I get sick. We're mobilizing broad public support from citizens, public health professionals and local organizations to show Senator Murray that people here in Seattle want our policymakers to end the irresponsible uses of antibiotics in livestock.
We're having a big Kickoff Meeting this Thursday to get things started!!
It'll be THE event to come to to hear more about the campaign and all of the tactics we'll be using this fall. We'll discuss the media events we're planning as well as the broad coalition of businesses, farmers, and health professionals that we'll be building, and volunteer opportunities for folks to get involved! It should be a fun time, and everyone who cares about this issue should definitely be there!
You can RSVP here, or contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information!
Hope to see some of you Thursday!
