UW Associate Prof. Sally Brown will explain how recycling and repurposing our waste benefits soils and climate change, while providing a simple way to make a difference at home. Her research focuses on turning home waste into a tool for sustainability. Brown: "We are lucky to live in an area that recognizes this and lets us make a difference one banana peel at a time."

A Research Associate Professor of Environmental and Forest Sciences at the University of Washington, Sally Brown’s goal is to turn cities green by making the use and re-use of wastes part of our daily vocabulary. Her studies cover soil health, climate change mitigation, bio-solids recycling and wastewater treatment. Brown has received numerous awards, including the Green Globe Award for outstanding achievement in environmental stewardship.
