HI Folks, I would love to get together again, and am proposing August 3, 7 PM at my house again at 2021 NE 75th St. I'd like to plan for expanding the 4th Corner Exchange trading group and seeing what ideas people have for spreading the word. We can have a table at Planet Home and I'm sure there are other ideas you all have about your interest in this group.

Hello Local Economy  Members,

I just "found" these links:  one to a Bellingham group, and one to a Port Townsend group, each of which is encouraging individual investment in local businesses as one alternative to investing in the stock market.  I thought we could think about this for Seattle!

Hope to see you Wednesday, Aug 17, at the meeting at Debra's house.

Has this group discussed alternative investment possibilities like L.I.O.N.s in Local 20/20? Is that of interest to anyone? or how about Co-ops? The S.L.I.C.E. conference is in town the weekend of the 22nd.

Hey folks,

I'm looking forward to connecting with some of you.  I'm a carpenter and I pastor the Olympic View Community Church in Maple Leaf.

Our study of sustainability and our desire to deepen our understanding of globalization for the global poor has inspired us to offer a cross-cultural immersion in Guatemala.  This April, participants will live and work in an indigenous village, study their innovative work at sustainable community design, build friendships and visit a nearby permaculture institute.  The foci of this trip are learning and friendship, not religious, so all are welcome.

I have a blog post with more information or you can visit our web-site at olympicchurch.org.

I was glad to find this group, in part from learning of Ithaca, New York's currency, but also because the economy in this Guatemalan village is going through a major transition.  An influx of cash has commoditized a whole host of new goods and services.  The village leaders are very open to alternative economic models, but much of what is happening is outside their range of experience.  I'd love to help connect these villagers with creative, kindhearted, sustainability-minded folks from Seattle.

HEY EVERYONE, I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE WORLD PREMIER OF "MONEY AND LIFE" WILL BE SHOWING AT THE UPTOWN THEATER THE SAME EVENING as our planned March 20th meeting, with all kinds of stories of local economy and local currencies from around the country, and the filmmaker, Katie Teague doing a Q&A afterwards. I have been waiting for it to come out for some time now, and I don't want to miss it. LET'S GO TOGETHER AND SHARE THE EXPERIENCE!! Meet at my house at 6 PM to carpool to Queen Anne. Here is the link to the website, and you can go onto Brown Paper Tickets to buy tickets. Let me know if you don't have the cash and I will buy you one and you can pay me in Life Dollars!

Deb

This is great! I've got it down.  It should be a great follow up to Rob Hopkin's, "Transition 2.0" movie that I saw thru Wallingford's Meaningful Movies and their lending library.

It's a nice offer to have you pay for tickets to the Uptown showing  out of your own Life Dollars, but this might be too generous at this point on your part?! Or, ... hmmm, .... am I missing something here in the potential of Life Dollars?
