Welcome to the site for Sustainable NE Seattle - a community of citizens dedicated to building a sustainable, resilient future for our locality, which includes Seattle neighborhoods that are north of the ship canal, east of I-5, and north to about 110th St. NE.
Our logo, a tree with many branches, expresses our desire to maintain our 'sense of place' and to grow 'organically' and sustainably as the need and opportunity arises. We support and hope to collaborate with existing community councils, ecovillages, organized groups, and businesses in our area that are also committed to buildling a sustainable, resilient future.
We are also a part of SCALLOPS: "Sustainable Communities All Over Puget Sound" http://www.scallopswa.org and also an official initiative in the Transition US network (http://transitionus.org/) , part of the Transition Towns movement.
Currently, we are holding regular monthly gatherings on the third Thursday of every month at the Wedgwood Presbyterian Church, 8008 35th Ave NE, from 6:30-9:00 PM. Bring a snack to share, if you wish, and your own utensils. See Events for a description of the next gathering.
In addition, Action Guilds develop their own activities and will post about them under Groups. We encourage you to find or create a guild that works for you. Once you have become a member, we invite you to post blogs, start or add to a discussion (forum), or even chat. We hope you will make this a truly networking site!
Thanks for your interest in Sustainable NE Seattle!
