Solar Potluck

Once again we lucked out with the weather. Our second annual Solar Potluck was another great success, this time with the addition of two biochar stoves.

Seattle Times article featuring our member Annette Cottrell

It's been a long time since Annette Cottrell regularly saw the inside of a grocery store

Her yard is an explosion of produce and herbs, with almond trees and honeybees and hops for making beer. The pantry teems with garden riches — roasted peppers, pickled beets — and there's homemade bread and caramel syrup in the fridge made with grains she ground and goats she milked.

Volunteer Needed: assemble & paint "A" boards

We have need for more A-boards, those wooden signs that have two sides hinged at the top and that stand upright on the sidewalk. We find them extremely useful for publicizing our events.

Keith M. has purchased the plywood and already cut it down to size. We need someone to assemble and paint them (blank white - we add the signs depending on the occasion).

Call a couple friends and make a party out of it.

Seattle City Council Wants Our Input

In 2010, the Seattle City Council established carbon neutrality as one of its sixteen Council priorities. Transition Seattle and SCALLOPS (Sustainable Communities ALL Over Puget Sound) agreed to help other neighborhood groups around the city who are interested in and working toward the City's goal to "adopt a carbon neutral goal for Seattle with specific milestones and implementation steps, along with a plan for adaptation to the effects of climate change."
