Over the years many members of our community have walked through the garden that my family has built here in Northeast Seattle, and we weren't the first. Overly-shaded, sun-loving food plants need new home

I planted 2 blueberry bushes and a set of kiwis - 2 females and a male - several years ago in a small patch of sun. My huge tree has grown even more, that whole area is shaded now, and none of the plants are thriving. I'd love to find them a new home where they'd actually be happy - I'll trade for a couple of ferns and some help getting my tiny front yard in shape. A Seattle neighborhood waste reduction contest is underway

CleanScapes is running a waste reduction contest based on waste pickup service area. For the next year, whichever area reduces the most waste gets a $50k project in their area. There's also a scholarship opportunity, an elementary school art contest, and a place to send waste-saving ideas.…
