A Seattle neighborhood waste reduction contest is underway

CleanScapes is running a waste reduction contest based on waste pickup service area. For the next year, whichever area reduces the most waste gets a $50k project in their area. There's also a scholarship opportunity, an elementary school art contest, and a place to send waste-saving ideas.

Thanks for posting this David. We would love to see as many households as possible participate in this. Not because of the 50M but to bring awareness to our waste stream. So tell all your neighbors, kids tell your schools, tell whatever neighborhood groups you belong to, tell your churches, get in there and reduce your waste! The competition areas are based on collection days and Sustainable NE has at least 3 (Mon, Tues and Wed) different collection areas within it, so we would love to see all of them get into this.
