The Magnuson Children's Garden is located inside the park, near the entry to the Community Garden. Built and maintained by volunteers since 2002, it is a vibrant, life-filled space for children and their parents to explore. The volunteers in the Children's Garden Committee will be hosting lots of great events this summer, all of which are fun for the whole family. You are always welcome to come by to lend a hand in sustaining this garden for an hour or two, or just drop in to enjoy our special event festivities. We hope to see your smiling face this summer along with your children! For more info, visit www.magnusonchildrensgarden.blogspot.com
Update on the Gray Whale Garden Eye:In a joyous celebration last Saturday April 9th, the Whale Garden's "pirate eye patch" was finally removed, to reveal his new mosaic eye! A grant from Northwest Horticultural Society provided funding for artist Clare Dohna to create a new eye to match the original she created in 2007, and the new eye was greeted with a flag and drum march by children and adults (who says you gotta grow up?), plenty of hip-hip-hoorays, and a musical chorus of Happy Birthday to You!

Volunteers are needed at each of these events, and you can choose from a variety of ways to help: guide the volunteers from Seattle Works and other groups, help children explore the garden and worm bin or make nature art projects, help set up refreshments, or other support activities. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to help- and thanks in advance!
