Connecting for a sustainable community

Making connections in our Community

At our Feb. general meeting, we had a brainstorming session around the subject of how we connect within our community. We asked those present for a list of values they felt were important to consider when answering the connection question. You all came up with the following:
Fun – Play Together, All Ages, Trust, Community, Education, Sharing, Common Purpose, Respect, Responsibility, Safety, Slow – Take your time, Knowledge, Work Together, Creativity, Nurturing, Welcoming, Open Space, Nature – Reconnect, Accessibility, Family Values, Commitment, and last but not least, Humor.
When asked what specific actions or activities, we as a community wanted to participate in in order to know one another better and in doing so contribute to our sustainability, we got the following 38 ideas which we have categorized here by common themes we saw emerge. (The items are listed in order they were proposed. The number in parenthesis is the number of “votes” that item received. Plus marks indicate items that were endorsed during the process of creating the list. Connections to other items are indicated as >#)
