Connecting for a sustainable community

Hi fellow gardeners!

I'm hosting an open garden at my place this Saturday. The location is 5710 NE 56th St, 98105 and I'm trying to raise proceeds for www.springintobed.org which is bringing organic gardens to low income people next month.

I feel like my garden might be of interest to those of you who want to grow more of your food year round since that is exactly what I do - I grow all or our veggies and once the 22 fruits I have planted mature they should be enough for us and plenty to donate. It is possible to ditch the grocery store, grow your own and supplement with local grains, dairy & meat.

I hope to see you there Saturday!

Absolutely! I'm wondering if it would be helpful for you guys to have possible garden planting plans for new gardeners? Blueprints to assist in planning for seed and start purchases? If that first garden is a visible success it catches on and spreads. If it just does ok it won't be as infectious for the new gardener or their neighbors and friends. If we make it fool proof and low maintenance then maybe we are on to something.

This sounds like a great opportunity to leverage our actions. Learning, observing, and contributing to support further action. Thank you Annette for hosting this Garden Open. See you there.
